Why your staff is disengaged

Your staff is disengaged. The retention rate in your department looks as successful as Bob Eucher’s career. Of course, I’m talking about his baseball career, not his commentating career.

Anyways, let’s get to the point. Your employees are leaving your organization because you treat them as abstract entities rather than flesh-and-blood individuals.

So what the hell am I talking about?

No idea what I'm doing meme

Abstracts are unrelateable. They are the elements that take us away from our staff as individuals and treat them as numbers. They are the statistical analysis, the generic demographics and targets. They are not individuals, they are collectives.

The flesh-and-blood on the other hand is us as individuals. It is my interest in competitive Starcraft. It is your interest in poetry, photography, family, or whatever it may be. Our staff, as individuals, are not collective descriptions. They are unique, motivated, passionate, and looking to succeed at whatever their goal is.

Speak to the individuals and the abstracts that executives love–the data, the analytics, the numbers–will all follow.

I do my best to practice what I preach. At times, this will fail. But I can guarantee this... My Instagram will not fail to entertain you and introduce you to the man behind the Boon.
